Spanish cooking is simple and delicious. It relies on fresh local ingredients for its clean natural flavour. Since Spain is blessed with a temperate climate, rich soil, and a long coastline, Spaniards have an abundance of fine ingredients to choose from.
Tomatoes, potatoes, eggs, rice, wheat, chicken, pork, game, and cheese all find their way into Spanish dishes. But it is olive oil, garlic, and seafood and fish that give Spanish cooking its distinct flavour and make it one of the healthiest cuisines in the world. Ancient Oil Olive oil has been an essential part of the Spanish diet for centuries. The ancient Phoenicians planted the first olive trees in Spain 3,000 years ago. Today, 262 varieties of olives grow in groves throughout Spain. In fact, the Spanish region of Andalusia (ahn-dah-lou-see-ah)boasts more than 165 million olive trees, more than anywhere else in the world. Many of these trees are at least 100 years old.
Although Spaniards eat lots of olives, 90 percent of the olives grown here are used to make olive oil. Spanish olive oil varies in colour and taste depending on the variety of olive it is extracted from. It can be green, pale yellow, or golden and can taste sweet, nutty, fruity, or slightly bitter. For instance, oil made from tiny Arbequina (ar-bay-key-e-nah) olives is yellowish-green and tastes smooth and buttery, while the golden oil made from hojiblanco (ho-hee-blahn-coh) olives has as sweet fruity flavour..Spanish cooks use olive oil in everything from main dishes to desserts, which may be why olive oil is often called the flavour of Spain. As a matter of fact, Spain is the world’s largest consumer of olive oil. Each Spaniard uses about 30 pounds (3.62kg) of the rich oil annually. It is drizzled over cooked vegetables and grilled meat and fish. Cooks fry anything and everything in it. They make sauces and dressings with it. They use it in place of butter in baking. They flavor soups and mashed potatoes with it. They bathe salads in it. They dunk bread in it. In fact, a cruet of olive oil and little dipping bowls are found on almost every Spanish table. “Olive oil is mandatory at every meal in a Spanish home,”1 explains Spanish chef Antonio Diaz. It adds a rich taste
and aroma to Spanish cooking……. Part 2 tomorrow.
To get rid of rodents there are methods that you can take on our own at home. From sealing holes to using peppermint oil, the methods available for rodent removal may be surprising but are proven to work.
Several natural methods to rid your home of rodents exist. First and foremost, clean your home thoroughly. Next, seal up any cracks or holes that you notice throughout the home. Removing their entry way is half the battle.
Once this step is complete, soak rags in ammonia and lay them in corners on the bottom level of your home, the basement. If you do not have a basement, do not use this method. Ensure that the space is properly ventilated to prevent ammonia asphyxiation.
When a basement is not available, consider using open cups of moth balls. These should also be placed in the corners of rooms. Rodents do not like the smell of moth balls or ammonia. This will act as a natural deterrent to keep them out of the home. This method should also be used in dark areas such as pantries and attic spaces.
Peppermint oil is another substance that rodents dislike. Rub this oil on support beams and on the outer foundation of your home. Anywhere that rodents travel, that you have seen, rub the oil. This includes counter tops and along baseboards. If you do not have access to peppermint oil, use fresh mint leaves. Cut the mint leaves up slightly to release the oils and sprinkle them along baseboards, inside cupboards and inside the oven.
Unconventional, Yet Safe Options
Consider getting a cat. The cat does not have to be a mouser, so-to-speak. Rodents naturally dislike the scent of a cat and will go elsewhere just sensing that it is in the home.
Additionally, you can obtain urine at hunting related stores. You’ll want fox, bobcat or coyote urine. All you have to do with this is soak some cat litter in the urine and sprinkle it around the interior perimeter of the basement of your home. If you do not have a basement, along the exterior foundation of the home will also work.
Use no-kill traps. These help to simply cage the rodent and not kill it. Once you have caught one, safely pick the cage up by the handle. Put the cage into your vehicle and drive at least one mile from your home. Release the rodent into the new territory, preferably where there is a water source and allow it to acclimate to its new environment. Rodents are natural scavengers, so finding food will not be a problem.
As you can see, there are several options for taking care of a rodent problem on your own. Rodents are smart creatures and will hide nearly anywhere, even in cupboards. Rodents can climb too, so keep that in mind. A good deterrent for countertops is black pepper.
Electricity has become an important part of our life. We cannot live without it. We do most of our jobs by taking the help of electricity, says Dan Horan electrician, a certified electrical contractor of the USA.

In any drilling project, lost circulation in drilling can be a major problem whether due to induced or natural causes. Lost circulation happens when the drilling fluid is partially or completely lost in the formation while drilling. Natural causes can be such factors as fractured formations whereas induced losses are often from the pressure of the hydrostatic fluid column going beyond the fracture gradient of the formation. When this occurs, it allows formation pores to break down which then releases fluid into the formation instead of stopping it from flowing into the area it should not.
Preventing lost circulation in drilling
As you know, it is very important not to lose circulation in drilling and today you can prevent the loss by using new products that have been created especially for the oil and gas industries. These products will reduce seepage, circulation loss, drill string lubrication, formation instability, and differential sticking. One of the most popular products on the market today is the MultiSqueeze™ pill. The product was designed to work with all kinds of drilling fluids and will not cause any type of contamination whether you are working with synthetic, oil, or water based fluids.
One other popular product is ShaleBlock™, which is asphalt based and will reduce water loss. This product is great for high and low temperature environments and can be used with both water and oil based muds.
If you are concerned about lost circulation in drilling then you should check out the options available to help prevent such disasters. Not only will these products help with preventing loss but will improve productivity on the job site and ensure stability of your drilling project.
All you really need for any drilling project are the right products to help ensure that you will not have to worry about lost circulation in drilling. To learn more about these products, click here.
When you are looking for the best excavation support, you need to choose the best option that will fit the needs of your project. The most common conventional excavation support methods include lagging walls, drilled soldier beam, and driven steel sheetpiling. In the majority of cases, if dewatering can be accomplished or the groundwater is below where the proposed subgrade will be, lagging systems or a solider beam is often the chosen method. On the other hand, if dewatering cannot be performed, sheetpiling is the best method as it can withstand hydrostatic pressure. Of course, there are other things to consider before you choose the method that will work best with your project.
Other Excavation support options include cantilevered walls for shallow excavations, secant pile walls for temporary support for deep excavations and tangent pile walls, which are similar to secant pile walls, but drilling is not necessary. The other differences are that secant pile walls overlap and tangent pile walls only touch. Secant pile walls are often used when the soil is bouldry or cobbly while tangent is often used after dewatering. The fastest construction with these two choices is the tangent pile walls.
Some individuals prefer soil nailing for their excavation support as it reinforces while increasing the shear strength of the unstable environment of the excavations including slopes. The way in which this method is performed is that bars called nails are installed closely into the excavation or the slope. The concrete fascia bridges the nails thus supporting them between the soil or rock acting as a retention system.
This method of excavation support is best used in soil that has boulders or rocks above the subgrade, small limited space, and low headroom.
Prior to choosing a method for your excavation support, it is best to learn more about the environment, the soil, and the groundwater. To learn more, please visit here.
If you work in an environment where scaffolding is used, it is hugely important that all of those who work on these projects have received appropriate scaffolding safety training. Various elements are involved in this, such as how to behave near scaffolding, how to check it for weak points, how to ascend and descend and more. However, the most important thing of all is that you engage in fall training.
Scaffolding Fall Training
It doesn’t matter how large your construction project is, you must comply with all the necessary safety standards for construction. Indeed, this should be your main priority. There are particular risks and dangers associated with working up a height on an elevated platform. Those dangers affect not just each individual employee, but also those who work around them. Falling off scaffolding presents the biggest danger of all, which is why fall protection training has to be provided.
This training is designed to make sure everybody knows how they are expected to behave on site in order to keep themselves and others safe. The training looks at various important elements, including:
- How to maintain a scaffolding structure.
- How to calculate and maintain the weight limits that these structures can withstand.
- How to use fall arrest systems.
- How to design and implement an emergency protocol should something go wrong.
- How to fall with the least risk of injury.
The goal of fall protection training is two-fold. By the word, it would be easy to presume it teaches people how to fall in such a way that they can survive. This is a big element of the training, but what is actually more important is that it teaches employees how to make sure they don’t actually fall off the structure at all.
If you are working with paint or you are hiring people that do, then it stands to reason you are going to want some level of clothing protection. As careful as we are with paint, it gets everywhere! We usually cover our furniture and home furnishings when we paint so why should we not take the same care with our clothes? For many people they feel as they don’t need to sort out clothing protection because they only wear old clothes when they paint so it does not matter if they get ruined but you also need to take into account protecting your skin.
Not only is paint really difficult to remove from skin, but it could cause irritation – which doesn’t need to be the case. There are ways that you can protect your clothing and skin from paint – click here for more information on paint suits. Paint Suits Paint suits are ideal because they are designed to protect your whole body and your clothing. They come with cuffs at the wrist and ankles which makes them fully protective and comfortable to wear. They are made from different materials but generally speaking plastic type paint suits are best. That is because they are designed to be worn once and then thrown away.
This means you don’t have to worry about expensive laundry bills or having to put on messy paint covered clothes when you start a project. They also look much better, because if you’re painting for a client they allow you to turn up looking neat and tidy and then just cover your clothes with one of these brand new suits when you are ready to get painting. They also come in a range of sizes so whatever you are looking for you should find that there is something to suit you and your needs.
When it comes to home security, you will find that there are several options available at your disposal, which will not only leave you spoilt for choice but will also, add on to the confusion of buying the right alarm system. To put it simply, the wireless alarm system may be the best possible solution available at your disposal however, it is also an option that will require you to be very cautious in order to make sure that you buy what is right for your home and meets its requirements effectively. There are certain aspects that you need to take into consideration in order to make sure that you buy a wireless alarm system for your home that meets all of its needs in the most effective manner.
- Understand the technical aspects, especially the range that covers the transmission and reception:
All wireless alarm systems are different and therefore, as per their technical ability, the distance along with the transmission range will also differ accordingly. These wireless alarm systems consist of sensors, the effectiveness of which depends upon the type of wireless system that is being selected. Therefore, before you begin hunting for your favourite wireless system, you should first be concise regarding the distance that you would like your alarm system to cover. Once you have that decided on, you can move on with finding the wireless alarm system that can cover these aspects effectively.
- Understand the different kinds of wireless alarm systems you can purchase:
There is a glut of wireless systems that are available in the market and therefore, before you venture out you must first sit back and understand what your needs are. Do you want the alarm system strictly for your vehicle or to focus on the lawn, bushes and shrubbery? Do you want the alarm system to focus just on your home or the animals and pets as well? Once you have all these questions answered, you can move on to finding the right wireless alarm system. The more precise and firm you are about the type of home security you are looking at, the better you will be at selecting the alarm system that targets your needs effectively.
- The overall area that you want to cover:
Needless to say, if your home and the corresponding lawn area is larger, you will need more number of sensors so as to have the entire area covered. On the contrary, a smaller space is likely to require fewer sensors. Sometimes, you may want an alarm system solely for the lawn region and in such circumstances, depending upon the area of the lawn that needs to be covered; the sensors will be required accordingly. This will ensure that the transmissions take place accurately.
- Every sensor is different:
You may like to believe that all sensors are alike and all you really need to do is pick a wireless home alarm system at random and have it installed in your home. However, there are several limiting characteristics of sensors that you may not be aware of. There are certain sensors that get affected due to the changes in weather, climate and even the temperatures. Besides, some sensors give away due to contact with water and the likes. Therefore, before you have your alarm system installed, you should take a keen look at these limitations and select the one that best suits your requirement.
Wireless home alarm systems can save you an immense amount of trouble and scare away any possible threat from burglars and thieves; however, you need to be careful while selecting the right alarm system and choose the one that fully meets all the requirements of your home.

There are a number of portable hand wash stations available on our market today. Many people still wonder, however, just how these can be of benefit. After all, aren’t we constantly surrounded by taps and sinks anyway? It appease that this actually isn’t the case and that a portable hand wash station can be incredibly beneficial in a variety of situations. The reality is that hygiene should always be at the front of our minds, and this is where these items can be of benefit. Let’s take a look at some of the situations in which you could use one.
If you are out camping, having your own portable sink could be really beneficial. Sure, many campsites have their own toilet blocks (although not all), but these are often quite far removed from the actual camping place. Having one right next to you, therefore, is much easier. It also means you will save water, rather than wasting your drinking water.
Medical professionals often have to go in areas with very poor sanitation, such as war-torn areas or places where a natural disaster has occurred. Never is it more important to keep sanitation high than in these locations. By employing a portable hand wash station, doctors, nurses and patients can keep clean, thereby avoiding outbreaks such as dysentery and even cholera.
Events and Festivals
Finally, these stations can be really good for festivals and other public events. The toilet cubicles offered there are often dirty. Furthermore, people don’t really want to stand in endless queues just to wash their hands. Hence, they could either bring their own portable stations, or the event organizers could provide them. Again, this is about increasing hygiene, which is always a benefit.
Why not find out more about portable hand wash stations and how they can benefit you.
There are many different types of lifting slings available on the market. These include polyester and chain, flats, models with eyes on either end and so on. All of them have different purposes, which means you need to make sure you get the right one. Let’s take a look in particular at chain lifting slings.
Chain Lifting Slings
A chain lifting sling is made up from rugged, tough and heavy chain. This is perfect if you need to lift something really heavy, like a machine or other heavy load. Generally speaking, they are attached to hoists or cranes in order to facilitate lifting. These slings should only be used if you are not worried about surface damage. After all, chains will scratch the surface of anything they touch, particularly if tension is applied to them. Additionally, when the chains are released, they tend to crash down quite rapidly, which could potentially dent or even break things.
Where to Find a Chain Lifting Sling
If you need a lifting sling, regardless of the type, you should only purchase one from a reputable company. Click here for more information on chain lifting slings and what you can expect from a company that knows their business. It is very important that you do not cut corners on these types of items. You may be able to find very cheap slings, but this is a type of false economy, as they will break. If a chain lifting sling breaks while in operation, you will find that the item they are lifting will also be damaged, often beyond repair. As such, the cost will be exponentially increased.
Make sure, in other words, that you search for the company that offers you the best value for money on your slings. If possible, you should also get some sort of warranty so that you know they won’t break.
Architects work in the construction industry and are involved with designing new buildings, extensions or alterations to existing buildings, or advising on the restoration and conservation of old properties. They can work on individual buildings or on large redevelopment schemes, and can be responsible for the design of the surrounding landscape and spaces. In addition to considering the way these buildings and structures look, they also make sure they are functional, safe, economical and suit the needs of the people who use them. Many architects end up working for architectural design firms as associates. After having spent a significant amount of time in the industry, architects may even start their own firms or freelance as consultants.
What kind of education do I need to become an architect?
We’ve all played with Lego as kids, that doesn’t however qualify us as architects. Architects earned median annual earnings of $73,340 and median hourly wages of $35.26 in 2011. Those starting out in private practices will go through a period of time when they are operating at a loss. But in the long run they will more than make up for it in projects, fees and consultancy.
What’s a typical day in the life of an architect?
On a typical day, an architect will find himself occupied in the following:
- Discussing the objectives, requirements, and budget of a project, taking the brief from the client and explaining it in detail to the team that will be working on it
- Providing various pre-design services, like conducting feasibility and environmental impact studies, selecting a site, or defining the requirements the design must meet
- Preparing drawings and presenting ideas for the client to review
- Developing final construction plans that show the building’s appearance as well as details for its construction
- Understanding and following building codes, zoning laws, fire regulations, and other ordinances
